Comp Plan MinVid 7: How much should I work?
Aug 16, 2017We get this question a lot- How long does it take to hit Silver?
Here’s the answer: It depends on your skill level and it depends on how much you work.
Cristy- very skilled- hit Silver about 4.5 months after she began working the business. She worked about 15-17 hours a week, using the 2 hour nap slot each afternoon when she had a break from the kids, learning the comp plan about an hour a night… and hosting/teaching several classes each month. As well, she spent significant time following up with people to whom she’d introduced the products.
Let me give you some tips to find out how long it will take for you.
Notice the Income Disclosure Statements below. The 2016 has more current numbers, but the 2013 version reveals something the 2016 edition does not: it tells you how many hours distributors at each rank reported working.
Here's the 2013 version:
You’ll notice:
- Stars reported working 5 hours/week
- Silvers worked, by their own admission, 17 hours each week
I bump into a lot of people who say they want to rank up. However, their time AND consistency don’t back up what they say.
Bear with me. These are all AVERAGES of what leaders did. That means if you’re going to hit Silver, you’re likely going to need to work the average. You’re going to need to invest 15-17 hours a week (including time for classes, follow-up, learning the products, etc.)
If you do what I’ve watched some people do and you work a few hours this week… none the next… 5 or 6 more the following week (Star hours), you’re probably not going to get Silver results.
You’ll likely assume network marketing doesn’t work. Or the the market is saturated.
It does work. And it’s not saturated.
However, to reach Silver with Star hours you’ll have to be- get this- FOUR to FIVE TIMES as good as the average builder that actually hit Silver.
Are you 5 times BETTER than them? 5 times more skilled? 5 times more efficient and effective with your time? 5 times more skilled at closing the sale?
In the same way leaders are told to "dress for the job you want- not the one you have," biz builders are wise to work the hours relative to the rank they want to achieve- not the rank where they currently are...
Do that, and in time... results will come :-)
